Portmore Municipal Corporation Waiting for Repair Money

The Portmore Municipal in the Parish of St Catherine is still awaiting word from the Office of the Prime Minister for the requested funds of around $150 million to clean the drains and road work that’s badly needed in the parish.

The requested funds have been submitted to the Minister of Finance on May 19, 2020, following the 3 days of heavy rainfall which caused roads to be badly damaged and other infrastructure in the sections of Portmore Drive and Greater Portmore.

Mayor of Portmore Leon Thomas said while some council money has been allocated for the repairs and clean-up of Portmore Drive more communities in the surrounding area needs to tend urgently especially the drains to prevent more flooding

Mayor Thomas said there are also a number of roads and drains in other sections of the parish, which need to be repaired in preparation for a predicted active hurricane season.
