Police in Columbus Ohio is reporting that 33-year-old registered nurse Nerissa Distin and her 2-year-old daughter Serina Morris are now being investigated as a case of murder-suicide and it is determined that Gary Morris's actions resulted in the family death. 

Yesterday Jan 1, 2020, at around 7;20 pm Columbus Fire Department responded to a fire at 3380 Retriever Rd for a house fire call upon arrival they found the house in flames. 

During the course of fighting the fire, they discovered three victims inside the home.
33-year-old Nerissa Distin and 42-year-old Gary Morris were pronounced deceased at 7:40 pm & 2-year-old Serina Morris was pronounced deceased at 9:45 pm.
As a result of the Arson/Fire Investigation, CPD’s Homicide Unit was called out to investigate this incident as a suspicious death.

Neighbors said the family had Jamaican roots and were friendly, according to media reports.

Additionally, Distin worked as a registered nurse at Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital, and her husband worked in the commercial printing industry.

Friends and family shared condolences and shock and grief of the sad and tragic news 

Kepisha Kippo, a cousin of Nerissa Distin, posted pictures of her and little Serena with the caption, “I don't know how I am gonna pull through this one. You were not just my cousin, (we) were more than sisters, best friends, everything.

Desmond Miller posted, "I can't believe I am writing these words so early in the year. Jah know star, it hurts deeply. Just yesterday you text me happy New Year and last night you gone.
